With the bulk of American National guard troops from the region “bombing and building” in Iraq the people of New Orleans have been reduced to a third world city of violence and hopelessness.
With advanced warning of the coming storm one might think the massive American military Industrial complex in association with “Homeland Security” might have had a contingency plan underway. Apparently they did not and the stupid eyed and slow reaction from the Cheney/Bush Whitehouse is a damning indictment of their ineptitude and single-mindedness.

Perhaps this might make Americans aware of the fact that “Homeland Security” is quite simply about monitoring and tracking the American population with very little to do (apparently) with natural and unnatural disaster preparedness.The TV shots of hordes of dehydrated and lost people chanting “We Want Help” is a shameful legacy of the Cheney/Bush greed-based government.

Right wing blog wonks are starting to piss their drawers over the fact that a disaster should not be politicized but I call attention to the mongering abuse by the American “Right” over the still mysterious 11/09/01 terror acts. They milked that day (and still do) for maximum agenda fulfillment.While it is true that agendas should not be furthered in the wake of this ONGOING American tragedy, accountability should not be lost in a flutter of waving flags and proto-fascist rhetoric. The Bush regime is probably glad to have something wipe the rise of the American Anti-War movement (not to mention the Traitors in their midst who still go unpunished) off of the media radar.
The Cheney/Bush Cartel has clearly demonstrated that all of their care is poured into the ownership of world oil supplies and the maintenance of the obscene wealth of their military industrial and big energy benefactors.
It is amazing that while people are starving and dying NOW, the media is abuzz with Oil supply news and stock market speculation. It is even more unusual that other countries feel the need to offer aid to the world’s most wealthy “superpower” nation. That in and of itself is another damning indictment of the Cheney/Bush Cartel’s abuse of America’s wealth and global power. Other nations should send aid to the USA because the government of thieves and liars has betrayed Americans.

Now that New Orleans looks like Fallujah or Baghdad (complete with running gun battles and strewn corpses) the solution offered is a “Shoot to Kill” policy from the government where “looters” are concerned. Nice. If your family were dehydrated and hungry while the local stores sat opened and abandoned with food rotting on the shelves what would you do? I would grab some provisions.

The racist murmurs concerning the “dumb” people who didn’t leave the area are disgusting but expected. I would assume that the New Orleans National Guard should have been there to evacuate the indigent and disabled before the category 5 storm made landfall. I guess the people on the Gulf Coast should take comfort in the fact that their civil defence forces are “Defending their Freedom™”, by occupying a foreign nation’s oilfields and cities.
What a fucking disgrace.


Of course lost in all of the human suffering are the animal companions of the devastated population. The people suffer from the incompetence of the Bush Cartel but the animals are low on the list of considerations for the slowly reacting and inept federal agencies now finally responding. There are groups responding to the abandonment and need for basics of the domestic animals left to fend for themselves and you should help them if you can.

After a speech to a police association in Ottawa, Mr. Cotler confirmed that his government will soon bring "lawful access" legislation to cabinet for final approval before it is introduced"

"The law would force Internet service providers to retain records on the Internet use of its clients in such a way that it can be easily retrieved by police, doing away with the need in many cases to seize an individual's computer as part of an investigation.

In her submission to the government earlier this year, Privacy Commissioner Jennifer Stoddart concluded that Ottawa and the police have not provided enough justification to warrant such a law.

"We remain skeptical about the need for these potentially intrusive and far-reaching measures," she wrote. Ms. Stoddart noted the law could give police access to global-positioning-system data from cellphones combined with electronic banking data that could allow the government to track an individual's every move.

"The digits we punch into a modern telephone do not just connect us to another party, they can also reveal our financial transactions, PIN numbers and passwords, or even health information."
Michael Geist, a University of Ottawa law professor who took part in the consultations, said the proposed law goes "well, well beyond" updating references to analog technology.

"For individual Canadians, this is an issue that should attract enormous interest because it fundamentally reshapes the Internet in Canada, creating significant new surveillance powers," he said."

The official story takes a long walk off a short dock as the facts concerning the execution of Mr. de Menezes in the London Underground change. I normally do not bother with the Telegraph but this story found on the 'World Press Wire' (to the right) caught my eye.

Cindy Sheehan - American Hero

Redneck zombie attack sheep mows down crosses and American flags at "Camp Casey" with his pickup truck. Did they not just pass a law in America against the desecration of the flag? Now that it is a right wing groupthinker doing it and not the "anticipated" leftie villians (for whom the law was created) what will the hypocrites in the American government do?

Well aware of the fact that every progressive blog from here to the South Pole is covering the Cindy Sheehan saga with a microscope, I have not really taken a moment to drop my two cents into the culture bowl.

Having heard all of the pugnacious zombie sheep from “the American right” hurl their scripted verbal turds at this woman, I realize that she has tripped the Republikud panic button and is not nearly dumb enough to stray from her potent message and into the political muckraking arena.
She exists high above the partisan wonks firmly established in their respective ideological trenches. Her protest is defined by her single minded purpose of receiving answers to personal questions concerning the wasting of her son for the greed and arrogance of natural resource theft and military industrial profiteering.
She is demanding real, honest and intelligible answers - not the usual regurgitated and flag wrapped proto-fascist groupthink that attempts to keep American people feeling stupid and guilty for rightly opposing the mass murder in Iraq.

The fact that she is an independent upstart not born of any “leftie” group or cause and she has a legitimate stake for demanding answers makes her untouchable (in a reality-based world). Many on the left and even the mushy "centre" now gravitate to her and facilitate her because she speaks for more Americans than are willing to admit it.
Because the questions she demands the right to ask regarding her son’s (and thousands of other Americans) deaths are honest, heartfelt queries that a great many Americans with a far less personal connection to the Iraq war crime are also asking, she has become a direct threat to the flimsy (and frankly racist and greed driven) rationales for American Imperialism held up by the ridiculous bigots on the “right”.

Her appeal is raw and sincere. It is no wonder redneck group-thinkers from the area and around America are coming out of the woodwork to attack her personally.

A gold-star mother with no agenda other than the truth is a threat to the vacant and phoney justifications for the criminal slaughter in the Middle East and the disingenuous politician/profiteers who fear mongered and deceived their nation into the conflict.
She has created an accountability moment for not only the coward Emperor on his permanent vacation but for the American people as a whole.
Rational and sane accountability for this war crime has not yet been meaningfully approached by any politician in the U.S.A. and probably never will be.
No Washington type with war-opposing views is willing to grow some balls and weather the propaganda storm and hateful vitriol of the groupthink zombies and their programmers in America, (much like the career conscious lumps in the American media).
They will have to supplement their cowardice with the amazing courage of Sheehan and let her take the heat in the absence of their integrity.

I cannot pretend I have a whole lot of sympathy for the American occupiers in Iraq, having seen (through independent media) the way that certain American soldiers and commanders are conducting themselves and the occupation. I must admit that not every American troop is a brainwashed, racist crusader killing freely without regret or human decency. Unfortunately the many who are represent and smear all others at the end of the day.

The human face of a heartsick mother weeping over the loss of not only her son but the death of her country’s moral compass gives me (and everybody else with a brain) pause for thought.

Sheehan illustrates the fact that many an American soldier is caught in a trap of lies and greed.

Betrayed by those very liars they stand up and sacrifice their lives to protect, many troops are seeing through the brainwash fog and realizing that the Oil War in Iraq is not the reason they pledged their lives for the protection of their nation. Many are becoming aware too late that a tin pot, (American supported) dictator was no threat at all to the “freedoms” of anybody living in the fortunate Western comfort bubble.
I am sure these troops who see the wrong of the occupation are (literally) dying for somebody in America to stand up and state that many lives are being wasted in Iraq while the legitimate threats to world peace and safety are picnicking in the halls of American government and doing business deals with those who would burn the West to the ground with apocalyptic fury if given the chance.

Whether fighting the very people they were sent to “liberate” in Iraq or the CIA funded, trained and maintained (Soviet war era) “freedom fighters” in Afghanistan, anybody who would willingly and unquestioningly sacrifice themselves to protect their nation deserves a hell of a lot better than a contrived enemy, an unthinking public and a duplicitous leadership wrapping their deaths in non-existent glory and empty, self-serving rhetoric.

Thank You, Cindy Sheehan, for standing up and sacrificing your comfort and safety to represent the millions of Americans who want their flag to actually stand for something good in this world.

Christopher Walken for President - 2008 - *Hoax*

The world has already become a surreal dreamscape/nightmare.
At this point - why the hell not Walken?
He could, at the very least, tap dance on our radioactive graves.
Unfortunately the site is a hoax.
"The site, walken2008.com claims to quote the actor as saying, "It's time to get America back on track," and says he will run for the nation's top post in 2008. But his rep told "Entertainment Tonight" Monday that the site is "100 percent not true."

Did anybody in Canada really need another reason to avoid travel in the Empire?
The RFID “revolution” has met with many a privacy advocate’s scorn and has been labelled by many “religious” types as “the mark of the beast” vaguely described in the often edited collection of rewritten Sumerian and Babylonian morality tales known as the Bible.
Mind you, the radio tag would be placed in a piece of identification not punched into your ear (like a cow), chipped under your skin,
(like a pet) or shoved up your ass,
(like a detainee of the American military or secret police agencies).
Of course this insidious tracking technology is presented as a necessary “security measure” in terrorized America. It is being touted for its expediency as a “convenience tool".

No thanks. What they fail to mention is that these “innocuous” little devices can be tracked over great distances via satellite. The idea of being “data based” and tracked within the emerging police state has all of the appeal of Victory Gin or “toilet cams”.

This outrage causes me to recall the revolting situation of Canadian, Maher Arar who was “rendered” while at an airport in New York waiting to connect his overseas flight to Canada. The latest twists in the toothless Arar inquiry are the chilling statements recently made by the U.S. department of “Justice”…

"Mason said the U.S. government is interpreting its powers in such a way that passengers never intending to enter the U.S. connecting to international flights at U.S. airports must prove they are no threat and could be allowed to enter the country.
If passengers are deemed to be inadmissible, they have no constitutional rights even if later taken to an American prison. Mason told Judge David Trager that's because they are deemed to be still outside the U.S., from a legal point of view."

"Someone who's inadmissible is in the same category as the people that the CIA snatches and grabs from other countries," said Barbara Olshansky, a lawyer for the U.S.-based Center for Constitutional Rights, which is suing a number of U.S. officials on Arar's behalf.
"You are fair game for however executive branch wants to treat you."

That old adage about the worth of a picture in this age of the psyop as reality has never held more truth. Pictures of the Occupation and its pernicious daily chaos are the millions of words never broadcast on the corporate airwaves in North America.

As the people of Iraq live with foreign military occupation and the resulting guerrilla war, so many people are waking to daily lives of burning air, shattered bones and fast death.
The thought of existing in a brutally hardcore military police state while working through the equivalent of multiple 7/7/05 London bombings or worse each day until the occupation ends is just mortifying.
It is a heart stopping, nation-redefining terror apocalypse when it happens in the West but the explosive everyday horror in America’s “liberated” oil colony just does not seem to register as “barbaric” in the minds of Bill and Judy Consumer.

Americans should see these pictures. They should know what is really happening in their name.
Between the flashing strobe of Jessica Simpson’s tits, A really huge truck and the Deluxe Burger Combo the smashed faces and strewn legs of Iraq should appear as some attempt at a sobering balance to supplement the raw lard of the self-pitying Western psyche.

To state the obvious, there are some pretty wide awake and eagle-eyed American internet entities presenting an entertaining balance to the dirge of meat-headed bigotry and mirror-blinded flag worshippers who represent Americans about as well as Fundamentalist Islamists represent the Muslim faith.

Earlier, The Guardian reported “Cook’s former parliamentary private secretary Ken Purchase said that he had heard conflicting stories from media sources, that the ex-foreign secretary was in hospital either because he had collapsed while out walking, or had been involved in an accident.”
